Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure that rejuvenates the appearance of the eyelids. As we get older, the eyes often play a big part in making us look tired and older. Wrinkles, sagging and even vision impairment can develop as the skin of the eyelids loses elasticity due to the aging process.

Typically, the steps involved with eyelid surgery are very straightforward. Before the procedure begins, anesthesia is required.

Once the patient is given anesthesia, the surgery can begin. Incisions, tissue removal and adjustments are completed as needed, based on the degree of correction required. The incision technique and other adjustments differ depending on the specifics of the procedure, which are discussed in great detail during the consultation.

The upper eye lift and the lower eye lift each require their own incision methods. Lower eyelid procedures may also call for fat alteration to remove bags.

Blepharoplasty can be combined with other procedures, such as a brow lift or a facelift. Scheduling a consultation with facial plastic surgeons Dr. Hustak and Dr. Wentworth will ensure that you have the best results possible.
